All Is Bright has partnered up with the City of Edmonton! Come roll with us! The City of Edmonton is committed to improving streets with a goal to support 50 per cent of all trips to be made by active and sustainable modes of transportation.

In support of this goal, this event, in collaboration with the All is Bright Festival, is designed to:

  • Create an opportunity for a fun winter ride together, and
  • Increase riders’ ability, level of comfort and confidence to take more trips using bikes.

Fun fact! Bring your bike, ready to roll, decorated with lights! We’ll have a few small prizes for creatively lit bicycles! Email questions to bikesandscooters@edmonton.ca. Please register here: City of Edmonton Bike Light Parade Tickets, Sat, 18 Nov 2023 at 3:45 PM | Eventbrite It’s FREE!

Meeting Time and Location

  • November 18, 2023
  • 3:45pm to sign in and fill out waivers. 4pm the ride will start!
  • We will be starting and ending across from the Greek Orthodox Church on 124 Street and 108 Avenue. This is next to the Paths for People booth and event bike parking.
  • The ride may take an hour or more. We’ll aim, but can’t guarantee, to be back on 124 Street by approximately 5pm

How We’ll Roll

This is a slow paced group ride with stops at points of interest. We’ll explore the city for 6 km, enjoying groves of mature trees, homes decorated for the season, and inviting active transportation routes.

*Adults and anyone under 18 years of age who is accompanied by a parent or legal guardian can come along.

Participants are required to sign a waiver before the ride and/or, where appropriate, sign a waiver as a legal guardian of a minor. All participants must wear a helmet, with the exception of those who wear a head covering for religious reasons that prevents helmet use.

The City doesn’t provide mechanical support for this event. If your bike or the bike of one of your dependents requires mechanical attention in order to start or complete the ride, you are responsible for finding support or finding alternate transportation. All dependents, including those under 18 years of age, must be accompanied on the ride by a legal parent or guardian. Participants are required to sign a waiver before the ride and, where appropriate, sign a waiver as a legal guardian of a minor or dependent.

The Guided Ride Along is not suited for people who would have difficulty riding 5 km. Winter cycling is more work than summer riding because of restrictive clothing and the possibility of pushing through snow. Kids under 12 years old would likely have a difficult time at this event.

What to Bring

  • A helmet
  • A fully functional personal bike or e-bike
  • Snacks, water, and clothing to keep you comfortable.
  • We suggest bringing gloves, a neck warmer, and something to cover your ears.
  • If you have any questions in advance of the ride, please email bikesandscooters@edmonton.ca

Cancellations

The Guided Ride Along will be canceled for extreme conditions, for example extreme cold, lightning, 50+ km winds, or a 7 or greater risk for air quality, as reported by Environment Canada Air Quality Health Index.

The decision of whether to cancel an event will happen 2 hours before the event, and an email will be sent to all confirmed participants who have registered for the event.
